Dynamic books

Summary

A dynamic book is a saved, live filter that behaves like a book without being one: a named rule set that new deals are automatically added to as they are booked, if they satisfy the rule set's criteria. Dynamic books appear in the book tree alongside real books and compose with free-text search and other filters, giving traders an ad hoc grouping mechanism that sits outside the formal book/portfolio hierarchy entirely.

Detail

Rule set

A dynamic book's filter is a named rule set of the form Property / Operator / Value — e.g. Deal ID Equals X, Book Not Y — chained together with comparison operators (GT, LT, GTE, and similar) and all AND-ed together. Any deal property can be used: instrument type, counterparty, maturity, trade date, delivery date, entity/business/centre, EOD, trader, asset, deal ID, or brokerage properties.

Live membership

As new deals are booked, they are automatically added to any dynamic book whose criteria they satisfy — membership is evaluated continuously, not computed once at creation time. Dynamic books are presented in the book tree indistinguishably from real books, and compose with free-text search and any other active filters.

Example use cases

  • "All EUR/USD options expiring this week, across all books."
  • "All client trades with counterparty HSBC."
  • "All NDFs fixing tomorrow."
